ReplyDeleteJust by coincidence, I read on the Manchester Evening News website only today that we are the 'Budapest of the North'.
Apparently it's because, like Buda and Pest, Manchester and Salford are separated by a 'watery divide'.
But I don't think the Irwell is quite as romantic as the Danube.

ReplyDeleteI've Googled, but I haven't found any music dedicated to the Irwell.
Maybe we should get together to raise awareness of this oversight. We could apply for funding, hold auditions and select the music most appropriate to the area.
Any ideas anyone?
