Word Count ~ 7,391

It's late and I'm so tired and hyped on caffeine that my stomach is revolting. Not only that, but I think I'm barely coherent now. The good news is that the skeleton of my dissertation is now complete. I have a meeting with my Super (who really is) in the morning, and then it'll be a case of writing my conclusion and editing. That's the bulk of the work done, but I'm not great at fiddly bits. I lose patience too quickly. But hey ho.

Yay me.

I just needed to share that before I go off to bed. How much sleep I'll get is debatable given the amount of coffee I had to drink. But any sleep will be better than none. Tomorrow is going to be a long day. Oh, I mean today.

  2. Thanks guys.

cogidubnus ~ it has gone very slowly. I've got a choice: I can spruce it up and hand it in (very tempting) or I can spend a couple of days working on it, strengthening my argument and puting in more examples.

I'm going to have a coffee, get dressed, so see my Super and get started again.

I know it's tempting to cop out, hand in what you've got, and skedaddle, but after all this work and effort is it really worth it?

My guess, on really short cyber-acquaintance, is that, underneath all the surface faffing about, lies actually a very frustrated perfectionist...this is based on (a) the ways in which you painstakingly attempt to make boys life so good and the concern you express when things go, even slightly, wrong...even your so-obvious maternal love doesn't entirely explain this one away and (b) the fact that, having muddled along with your coursework for a while, when needed, you can dig deep, do the business, and produce the goods at short notice...plus..
    (c) the care and consideration (expressed in small detail as well as overall) which shows up in your accounts of your step-fathers sad decease....

For what little it's worth, my advice is to invest the little extra and later live a more satisfied life...

  6. Thanks cogidubnus ~ it's really kind of you to say. I did go through it again and spruce up bits and pieces. Had I started when I had the chance, it could have been an ace dissertation. Fortunately, it will only account for 16% of my final degree.

But it's handed in; now I can get on with the really funky stuff.
